Tony & Jenny Brooks - nb JennyBJennyB is a 54' cruiser built by Colecraft around 1990 for Viking Afloat and latterly with Clifton Cruisers. She was chosen to give a good compromise between cost, two man cruising, and family cruising. There are four permanent berths and a convertible double raised dinette (very important so very aged Ps can see out!). The front and rear cockpits are comparatively small to maximise interior space. At least Tony will never know which dents the kids have fitted and which were there already! The name has a bit of "history". Tony spent a lot of the 60s and 70s as foreman hire fleet engineer and always maintained that one day he would have a hire fleet of his own. Fashion at that time was for the fleets to be known as a Line - Maid Line, Gay line etc. so Tony always said his fleet would be known as the B line ( several plays on words) and that the boats would be named after his extended family. Over the years reality set in, but when we could afford a boat Tony kept faith with his promise and named the first (and probably the last) boat of the B line after his wife. At present JennyB is at Welton Haven and looks as if she will stay there for the foreseeable future. Tony was a lecturer in the Vehicle Section at Reading College specializing in vehicle electrics and can now be found at http://www.tb-training.co.uk/. He is very happy use his skills and knowledge in inland marine engineering and 12/24 volt electrics to assist anyone who needs it. Tony has also carried out PC support for his department and a local charity so is happy to help members with every day PC problems. |
